Oh what a wonderful Weir we have!
A busy afternoon was had, with 25 adults and 5 children, all helping to clear away debris from the weir and river area behind the Church Tea Rooms in Radstock. WPA came along to support the eager community group, bringing tools from Banes Parks Department and a gazebo to hover under in the occasional showers.
The group has been meeting for the past couple of months to discuss how they could improve the original miners swimming spot and weir and it was decided the first thing to do was to have a river area clearance day. The group has interest in planting out a small orchard and
improving on the path ways and access to the river area, it's such a lovely project for us to be supporting.
Sue Greatorex the reverend of the St Nicholas Church and one of the community members involved in the clearance day, was really happy to see such enthusiasm and dedication as folk cleared the undergrowth alongside the river, 'Now we all need to meet and discuss how we can get some funding to clear the pool area, its all very exciting'
We will keep you all informed of any future events the group are running, so do come down and join in.
