Lisa, Jess and Andrew from WPA had a brilliant time at Somer Valley Skate Park in Midsomer Norton on the 6th of June, leading a free drop in session where children and young people could decorate their scooters and bikes! 2 weeks beforehand Andrew found lots of stickers from Children's Scrapstore in Bristol which proved extremely popular with the young people! There was also the opportunity to try out some unusual scooters and bikes, including the "Handie" bike where you have to pedal with your arms instead of your legs, and a couple of unicycles. WPA also had help from Jim Imeson, the Bike It Officer for Sustrans who was able to give advice about bike and scooter maintenance to children and young people. Around 25-30 children and young people, and 4 parents came over and took part. One boy aged 12 remarked - 'This is quality, this is the best thing - people should come down!' and another boy, also aged 12 said "This is awesome, can we do it more often?' WPA, Jim and QUEST all team up next Saturday the 16th from 10.30am - 1.30pm to decorate more bikes, make a banner for the park, and prepare for the Midsomer Norton Fayre on the 23rd of June, where there will be a big parade of decorated bikes! WPA look forward to seeing everyone again on the 16th and the 23rd!
