Angry Birds and the ever changing face of the Community Den!

A really lovely sunday affair was had by all at the Westhill Family Day. Though we had some cloudy skies to begin with, the sun took over later in the afternoon and there must have been at least 300 hundred families who came to enjoy the day. There was a bouncy castle, craft stalls, lots of great displays from local martial arts clubs, an array of amazing vintage tractors and a car boot area.
Kerry Coe one of the main organisers from the Luckington Carnival said that things had gone really well for them and they are booking in another day for next June. She also mentioned her son had really enjoyed coming over to the WPA area 'he's been over there loads today!'
WPA saw around a hundred folk in our area, and we were witness to some lovely community play moments, from a dad guiding a parachute game with a group of children, to a big game of catch the tennis ball with a huge group of children and adults together.

At the start of the day some of our regular session goers came and took a load of den making kit and went off to make a 'proper rain proof shelter' on the top of their slide climbing frame. Throughout the day we saw various groups of children come and go in the den area, it grew and changed completely. It was a wonderful process to view and the children all seemed to find ways to share their resources.

Similarly loads of folk came to play with our Angry birds, and one mum really enjoyed getting stuck into the whole process with her two young sons. All in all a really enjoyable time was had by everyone.
