Kate Hellard

Kate Hellard has been working with children and young people since 1989, qualifying with an HND in Early Childhood Studies in 1996 and a Bsc Social Sciences in 1999. After becoming a playworker in 1997, Kate went on to become the Inclusion Worker for Disabled Children, then Temporary Manager and in 1999 A Development worker for Disabled children, all with Bath Area Play Project.

She has since worked for the B&NES Family Information Service as a Development Worker for Disabled Children and their Families and a Project Worker for the Childrens Society, Childrens Participation Project where she worked with traveller families, evaluated the Children's Rights Charter and developed participation training. During this time she has further developed her understanding of playwork through training and working as a freelance play trainer and workshop facilitator. More recently, Kate has worked as a Parent and Family Support Advisor in a special school in Somerset were she lives with her three children.
