Healthy Fruit day
Today was all about getting healthy!! We got children and a parents engaged in making their own fruit salad from scratch!
First, during washing the ingredients we did an experiment to examine whether fruits will sink or float. Cristina, do you remember or have this boy's name? ...guessed that grapes will float and when he discovered that grapes, separated from their stems and leaves, sank into the water he said: "I didn't know that! You can always learn something new".
Afterwards, there was a lot of apple peeling, strawberry chopping, banana slicing... Children were very excited and couldn't help but eat the grapes, oranges and strawberries during the preparation. We made a huge bowl full of fruit that was eaten very quickly by all the children and adults that joined us later on. One of them said "It's really good to see children eating fruit".
Celyn, age 7, was peeling apples very well even though it was the first time she was doing it! After that we went to the field and played rugby tag according to the rules that children made for the game! Children were very active and fast and actually the playworker had no chance against them!!!
Besides that we made beautiful chalk drawings on the floor of the playground, embellishing the school even more!
At the end of the session Ellen, age 6, said: " I loved the fruit salad! It was lush!"
